Hiking &
feeling nature with every step
Holiday Apartments at the Eggerhof in Verano – Merano and Environs
Stroll to the Knottnkino, discover the mysterious Stoanerne Mandln stone figures, explore themed trails around Verano/Vöran, stop at a rustic mountain hut on the Tschögglberg mountain, climb a towering summit to watch the sunrise, ride Haflinger horses or head out on an alpaca walk.
Here, one thing matters most: to truly feel nature — and leaving everyday thoughts behind.

Nature as a cinema screen – and you in the front row
The Knottnkino is just around the corner: only about 20 minutes on foot from our farm lies this unique natural highlight. There’s no popcorn here — just the very best views. Wooden cinema chairs invite you to sit down and let the spectacular mountain world wash over you.
Afterwards, wander back to us, make yourself comfortable in your holiday apartment — or treat yourself to coffee and homemade cake in our farm tavern.
Hiking trails for
young and old alike
All around the Eggerhof you’ll find plenty of trails that are pure fun to explore — from the Three-Mountain-Huts circular hike to a peaceful walk to the idyllic Sulfner Weiher or the Bruggen Weiher ponds, where you can even spot goldfish gliding through the water.
Along the way, you’re almost certain to meet the gentle Haflinger horses. There’s even a themed trail dedicated to them — the Haflinger Adventure Trail. A must-do for families is the Outdoor Kids Park at Merano 2000, which is also a wonderful hiking area in itself.

Hiking with
llamas & alpacas
Several times a week, you can hike through the beautiful countryside of Verano with fluffy alpacas and llamas. These curious and intelligent animals make hiking twice as much fun.
The llama and alpaca hikes are organised by ‘Lapakafun’. The meeting point is below the Verano sports field, just a 5-minute drive from the Eggerhof.
Horseback Riding
at the Matunschmied Hof
A heartfelt recommendation from us. Just a few farms down the road, our friends at the Matunschmied Hof offer introductory riding lessons and guided rides with their Haflingers. These blond-maned horses have been part of life here on the Tschögglberg mountain for centuries.
Riding is available by advance booking only with Carmen at the Matunschmied Hof.

Climb the mountains
and touch the sky
If you dream of seeing the world from above, you’ve come to the right place. Set out on countless trails on Merano 2000, savor summit moments on Mount Ifinger, visit the mystical Stoanerne Mandln stone figures, wander the high trails of the Texelgruppe, conquer wild 3,000-meter peaks, or hike to remote summits in the Vinschgau and Ultental valleys — here, every step leads through landscapes that take your breath away.
With the South Tyrol Guest Pass, you can reach many of these hiking areas easily and comfortably by public transport – leaving you more time to simply enjoy.
